About Lama Thupten Gyaltsen Dorje Rinpoche

Lama Thupten Gyaltsen Dorje Rinpoche is the resident teacher of Urgyen Samten Ling Gonpa and has studied and practiced the Buddhadharma for over 45 years. He was ordained as Lama in 1997 and was given the title of Rinpoche in 2013.

Join our Sangha (congregation) for our weekly Sunday services. “Puja” is the ceremonial practice of awakening our natural qualities of wisdom and compassion through prayer and recitation of mantras.

Puja of Compassion

(Chenrezig Puja)
Increase compassion while healing oneself and others. This practice is recited in ENGLISH.

Introduction to Tibetan Buddhism

An eight-week introductory course providing a contemplative and experiential foundation on the core teachings of Tibetan Buddhism including:

  • Who was the Buddha? And an explanation of the four Noble truths.
  • Beginning meditation
  • Mantra recitation
  • Exploration of The Four Thoughts that Turn the Mind Towards Dharma.

Please bring a notebook and something to write with to the first class.

Beginning Buddhist Course

Continuing on the Tibetan Buddhist Path

Pre-requisite: Introduction to Tibetan Buddhism course.

This eight-week course focuses on mantra recitation, Tibetan Buddhist practice and meditation fundamentals and basic practice techniques building a personal practice.

Intermediate Buddhist Practice Course

Pre-requisite: Introduction to Tibetan Buddhism course and Beginning Buddhist course.

This course explores the fundamental applications of Tibetan Buddhist Ngondro Practice for those starting on the Buddhist Path or as an enhancement for practitioners. Also, the meaning of refuge and preparation to take refuge. Foundational practice and explanation of Ngongdro and its use, meaning and importance in Buddhist practice.

Advanced Practice and Teachings

Pre-requisite : Intermediate Buddhist Practice course.

This is a continuing evening class with Lama Thupten Rinpoche focusing on the teaching, theory, and practice of Tibetan Buddhism.

Awakened Mornings

The Gonpa is open Monday through Friday 7:00-9:00 a.m. for quiet individual sitting—all are welcome.
